FUTILE LOVE.

HE: I could feel your heart race
As i told you of my love
My love for the fairest of maidens
You, the epitome of black beauty.

SHE: I knew you were in love too
Saw it in the sparkle of your eyes
Felt it in your smile
But it tugged at my heart
You could not be mine
My diamond and gold chains held me back.

HE: Mild and gentle, a leaf falling free
I could imagine all of now and eternity
With you. But my imaginations, truncated
My dreams and hopes dashed
By my lowly estate

SHE: Your kind heart would not meet requirements
Your calloused hard-worked hands
Were not fit to hold my velvety palms
Not like i cared, my love was true
My love for you is true, genuine. Deep.

HE: We are perfect together, we know
But they see flaws in my rags
And imperfections in my hole riddled shoes
We are the best fit, we know
But they don’t see it.

SHE: I recall the stomach flutters
The palpitations and dry mouth
With just the thought of you
I gladly exchanged my purple robes
For an ash-themed night with you

HE: Let me help you be free
Our love is strong, much more
I desire a future and home with you
Don’t i deserve a chance, my love?

SHE: But these chains go deep
Seemingly stronger than our love
My heritage, my family name, all the wealth
Tied to my feet and the fourth finger on my left hand
I am told you don’t deserve them, or me.

HE: We could fight this fight

SHE: But i am forced, compelled, coerced, threatened.
HE: But lost love is the greatest war

SHE: My life or our love, A man equal to my estate or none
HE: This our love is lost
HE: A futile love.

SHE: A futile love.
