Dear Cozy,
If life gives you lemons, ask for salt and vinegar.
We have big heads for a reason. Our brain is big and it does not just occupy space, it works.
We don’t struggle to beat everyone hands down with our test scores but we don’t lag behind. We may not follow the usual and recognised methods but we sure have our ways.
I did quite well in my primary school days, ended up being the head girl and carting away prizes at the end of it all.
My early years in secondary school though, I almost lost hope. I wasn’t rock bottom of the class but I wasn’t representing our family well.
It took full realisation to fall on me that the guys doing well were not even competing, they were just having fun.
Which is good when it is focused fun. That is talk for another day.
What I’m saying is, never, ever think yourself dull. If you find yourself lagging behind, take a reflective pause but never give up.
Have fun learning. Compete with only yourself.
Love, Mum.
Just a Little More…
1. No one is dull. Trust me. Environment matters a great deal. We all know of many Nigerians making waves abroad who were once tagged “not possible to make it”. You cant leave a frog in cold water and expect it to jump out. That’s not challenging enough. At the same time, if the water is too hot, the guy’s going to die.
2. Find your niche, your method, your zone of comfort, enough to succeed. And enjoy it. Don’t be pressured to think you have to follow anyone’s ways.
