Dear Cozy.

Dear Cozy,

If life gives you lemons, ask for salt and vinegar.

I am a single mother. No, your father did not run away… He knows better than to do that. And he isn’t dead either. He’s just not here… yet.

Raising you has been many shades and degrees of opposites. One minute, I’m almost drooling over how cute you are, especially your curly hair and soft skin. The next minutes, I’m wondering why in God’s name haven’t I put you up for adoption.

Getting you to be disciplined and of good behavior without resorting to spanking and noisy decibels is something I keep learning.

You see, I want you to be a real man. This isn’t about how many muscle packs you have (you’d have to speak with your father about that one) or how much money you have or do not have. Being a real man is about knowing when to remember your home training.

This means I have to train you well and that may make me come across as being difficult at times. But, I love you. And I know the world is seriously deficient of real men. I want to send you out there to make things better.

You’re not a real man because you treat one woman right. You’re a real man when you treat the world right.

Love, Mum.

Just a little more…

1. Kudos to nursing mothers and young parents, they are heroes. Those early years and the formative years are crucial. Many children are lost during those years. Singles should really take time out to spend a weekend with such people and learn a little.

2. Are you a real man? Thank God for your macho look and thick wallet. Beyond those, have you got anything extra?
